First, I only know how to use the whisper thing..... And the block one.

Click on the person's name on the list on the right hand side.
Click on the ear that is below it. A window should pop up that
looks like the chat window. Type what you want to say to the person.
It will be private.

To block someone, you click on the persons name, then on the picture that
has an X on the face.
